Don’t Ignore Signs of Oral Pathology

If you’ve been experiencing a chronic sore throat or hoarseness, difficulty chewing or swallowing, or have noticed changes to the skin inside your mouth, we recommend you schedule an evaluation with one of our oral surgeons. Though these changes might be harmless, they can also be signs of oral cancer and as specialists in oral pathology, we can determine if you’re in danger and need treatment. Oral cancer is especially harmful as it can go undetected without proper examination from our experienced team. Similarly, smoking and tobacco use, heavy drinking, previous cancer diagnosis, and a history of extreme sun exposure can all increase your risk for oral cancer. Don’t wait if you think you have signs of oral pathology. Specialized treatment from our Lynn, MA team can save your health and your life!

Painless Oral Cancer Screenings

An oral cancer screening is a simple and painless evaluation of the inside of your mouth. This is important to undergo every six months, especially if you are a high-risk patient. At your screening, we’ll check for visual changes in the color and texture of your skin and tongue as well as feel for lumps, cysts or tumors on the skin inside your mouth. We’ll also have you remove your partials or dentures if you wear them to examine the tissue underneath. Any suspicious areas of your skin will need biopsy, which we complete at our office. This tissue sample will be evaluated for cancer, and if you’re given a diagnosis, we are specially trained to provide treatment with minimally invasive C02 laser therapy. Any oral pathology concerns put you in a scary and stressful situation, but we’re experienced and trained to effectively treat situations like this. Rest assured, you’ve come to the right place to be evaluated and treated.

Don’t wait. Schedule your screening today.
